COACH DE
RECOVERY
After my lived experience, as a mother, of a son who used substances.
Discover that substance use disorder (addiction) is a multifactorial disease and requires disciplinary treatment.
I gave myself to the task, to study it, to understand it, to learn from it, to know the symptoms, so that through all my emotions experienced during the treatment of my son, I could go hand in hand with him, and thus find the road to recovery together.
Knowing that there are many families like us who do not know what to do, who to turn to, in order to help them, I took the Recovery Coach certification, to be able to help and guide them on their own path..
WHAT DOES A
RECOVERY COACH?
PLEAD
Advocate for the person in recovery that I will be working with.
Helping him/her in an important way in that he/she understands, that he/she can work on his/her self-defense, so that they can work on their self-defense for your recovery.
Helping them understand their rights, their responsibilities as a person in recovery.
MENTOR AND GUIDE
Being a good role model, how can I, be that person in recovery and be the best role model for that other individual and be a constant positive presence in their life?
On top of that, also helping you learn skills that are really going to support your recovery.
Like for example: communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and just using and implementing those particular skills. Identify positive relationships and be an ongoing support person for them in recovery.
RECOVERY AND SUPPORT IN YOUR WELLNESS
Help people understand that there are multiple paths to recovery. There's not just one, so to help sort out sometimes and say what recovery might look like for me, in my life, is to provide guidance and that might be through some activities. Having motivational interviews, but it is certainly coaching the person as they work through their recovery process. Recognize any signs of behaviors that might be going on and that might require a referral to a higher level service so they can maintain their recovery, maintain their well-being and also help them identify your basic recovery and wellness needs.
RECOVERY IF POSSIBLE
Guide me to be a patient companion,
To listen with a heart as open as the sky,
Grant me vision to see through his eyes,
And ears eager to hear your story,
Create a safe and open table where we can walk together.
Make me a clear pond in which she can reflect,
Guide me to find in it your beauty and wisdom,
Knowing your desire for her to be in harmony:
Healthy, loving and strong.
Let me honor and respect your choice of your own path,
And bless her to walk freely.
Let her know once again that although she and I are different,
However, there is a peaceful place where we are one.
